There are opportunities in driving distance for retreats and teachings. Saranam often host events in conjunction with the Morgantown groups.
Saranam Retreat Center
About 1.5 hours south, near Elkins, WV. They bring in teachers from the Zen and Tibetan traditions, often in conjunction with Morgantown Buddhist group. At times we have retreats at this beautiful location.
Sunday Morning Sits: 9am - 12 pm, followed by a community lunch.
Jivaka Wellness Center
Located in Elkins, WV. With yoga and meditation groups and events, it's founder, Kyle Weaner, is a trained Tibetan Medicine practitioner who comes to Morgantown monthly for consultations and treatments.
Lama Kathy Wesley
Lama Kathy Wesley from Columbus Karma Thegsum Choling (3 hour drive West) has come to West Virginia's Saranam for teaching retreats. There are many teachings available for download on her website.
Bhavana Society
A Forest Monastery, and a 3.5 hour drive east, Bhavana offers solitary and teaching retreats in the Theravada Tradition, under the monks Bhante Gunaratana (Bhante G) and Ven. Bhante Seelanada.
Lotus Gardens
A 4 hour drive to the south east, offering solitary and teaching retreats under a female Tibetan master in the Nyingma tradition, Khandro Rinpoche.
Centers from the Drikung Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism
There are two relatively close centers affiliated with the Drik ung Lineage of Tibetan Buddhism. The Tibetan Meditation Center about 2.5 hours east in Maryland, and Three Rivers Dharma Center in Pittsburgh.

Based in the Korean Zen tradition. It is a wonderful place to visit for Sunday service or a weekend retreat.
